ET: Its Integration in the Teaching-Learning Process

Educational Technology embarked a very good impression to me especially in terms of its integration to the teaching-learning process. In order to better facilitate the learning process and enhance the learning outcomes, it is essential for teachers to construct a technology-enhanced learning environment featuring with interaction and collaboration. In this type of environment, students’ role is converted from the passive receipt to a positive researcher since the instructional settings stimulates students’ initiatives and encourages their engagement.

It is no doubt that learning environment will be a battlefield not literally by blood but by thoughts through pen and paper. For instructors, they are supposed to stimulate students’ curiosity and provide essential guidance. Furthermore, for students, they are required to obtain the essential research capacity and innovation.

What technology brings to education, in my opinion, is a reform of practice and value. Initially, the integration of technology helps the education extricate the limitation of space and time as well as brings much more interests and alternatives to learning. For example, people living worldwide could enjoy the abundant educational resources simultaneously and the telecommunication tools further strengthen the online learning community. In the meanwhile, it also urges the need of pursuing equal access to the technology-based education. Technology, as mentioned above, could facilitate the learning. However, if the equal access could be ensured, what will come out is the widening of the gap. On the one hand, essential technological enhancement is supposed to be integrated in the learning environment in order to boost the learning and motivate the knowledge sharing. On the other hand, fair use, equal access, acceptable use, and etc, should be on the agenda of the educational technological development.

I would imagine most students at the early levels of learning are more visual and social learners taking more from experiences than a book. I guess it just depends on your beliefs and how you can best implement a strategy based upon your classroom. I personally feel that the classrooms were a lot less diverse than todays. Integrating technology into a classroom can be very tedious and there are many things that teachers need to take under consideration.

Technology should be set up differently because of the many facets that it entails. Teaching strategies are the key to success. Teachers have to find an accurate and efficient way to teach and assess their students. I believe that once a teacher has many of these things in place the classroom will be transformed into a new, more advanced classroom; A classroom that works with the teacher and for the students. It is easy to see how fast technology is growing. It is a decision of the schools to decide what kind of technology program to implement. It is the schools responsibility to stick with the plan and back that plan so that it has the best chance for success.

The teacher's role is a vital one while integrating technology. Through this subject, Educational Technology 2, I was able to foresee what my classroom would be and how my students would learn by integrating technology in learning and for my as a future teacher, I could use these knowledge in providing and creating a better learning environment, activities and teaching strategies that would make learning and teaching a fun and active process.
